In a laboratory study, dogs on DERAMAXX showed a significant improvement.*

Dogs given deracoxib (the active ingredient in DERAMAXX) could place more weight on the leg with an inflamed joint than dogs given placebo tablets or Rimadyl^® (carprofen)**. Dogs treated with deracoxib also had lower lameness scores compared to dogs treated with placebo tablets or Rimadyl^® (carprofen)** as shown in Figure 1.

In a field study, dog owners reported improved quality of life.***

The effectiveness and safety of DERAMAXX in controlling osteoarthritis pain and inflammation was tested in a field study with more than 200 dogs. Dog owners were asked to evaluate their dogs’ quality of life, lameness and activity. Significant improvement was seen in all three areas for dogs treated with DERAMAXX compared to those that received placebo tablets. After 14 days of treatment, nearly 55% of dogs given DERAMAXX had an improved quality of life according to their owners. As shown in figure 2, this percentage steadily increased as the study progressed.

These studies show DERAMAXX controls the pain and inflammation of osteoarthritis, so your pet is more comfortable and can return to being an active member of the family.

As with all drugs in this class, side effects involving the digestive system, kidneys or liver may occur. These are normally mild, but may be serious. Pet owners should discontinue therapy and contact their veterinarian immediately if side effects occur. Evaluation for preexisting conditions and regular monitoring are recommended for pets on any medication, including Deramaxx. Use with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids should be avoided.
